I grew up in my family's electronics business in Mumbai, where supply chain wasn't a subject. It was whether the shipment showed up and whether we got paid. Chasing vendors, negotiating rates, fixing stockouts: that was daily life long before I had textbook words for any of it.
The research came later: a year spent ranking 1,500 companies for India's first supply chain index. Then Chicago, for my MS at DePaul. These days I'm as happy writing SQL as I am on the phone with a supplier. I think that mix is the whole point.
